As one of the most energy efficient ships in its class, the Silver Origin has been equipped with eco-friendly features to comply with future regulations and those of the Galapagos National Park Directorate. The latest technological innovations ensure a 15% reduction in fuel consumption and lower exhaust emissions. The vessel's dynamic positioning system will be used when mooring over sensitive seabed ecosystems to prevent the anchor from causing damage; freshwater treatment systems will be integrated into the suites to convert seawater into drinking water, drastically reducing the use of plastic on board; and a wastewater treatment system will meet or exceed the strictest regulations on the market. In addition, all waste on board will be strictly segregated and delivered to a local waste management company for recycling or removal from the islands.
