Visionary Platform Design for a New Ship Class
The Icon of the Seas represents a bold new direction in cruise ship design. As the foundation for the innovative Icon Class, the ship’s platform was developed to establish a cohesive visual identity and integrate groundbreaking features.
Designed as a self-sufficient floating city capable of hosting nearly 10.000 people, the vessel merges cutting-edge technology, architectural precision, and functional elegance to redefine maritime travel.

Striking Exterior Design
The exterior of the Icon of the Seas merges sleek aesthetics with advanced functionality. Its 20-deck structure — with 18 levels dedicated to passenger experiences — is characterized by a streamlined silhouette that prioritizes both visual impact and operational performance. Bold architectural elements are carefully balanced with practical requirements, creating a distinctive design that supports an exceptional guest experience.
Inspired by private luxury yachts, the ship’s dynamic bow and sculpted hull set new standards for cruise ship design. Organic asymmetry informs both the exterior’s flowing forms and the spatial circulation, creating striking focal points throughout. The open decks have been meticulously developed into a multi-level environment where each layer integrates seamlessly into the overall composition. Even technical elements, such as the LNG roof and funnels, are designed as part of a unified aesthetic, showcasing a perfect synthesis of functionality and elegance.

The open decks emphasize seamless transitions between iconic onboard areas, including the Royal Promenade, Surfside, and Central Park. Organic tile patterns, integrated lightwells, and thoughtfully positioned recreational spaces create a sense of flow and unity throughout.
