For a community housing project in Wiesbaden, the architects of 3deluxe dealt with innovative, socially networked living in the city periphery and developed a charming, architectural concept for 40 residential units that meets the demands of intergenerational living as sustainably as possible. In addition, it is intended to promote social togetherness and offer an attractive, environmentally friendly alternative to the classic single-family home.
The discussion about the unfavourable ratio of construction costs to usable space in housing projects is constantly growing. How can we live sustainably and in keeping with the times? How can we improve energy efficiency and the CO2 balance? How do we get a grip on land sealing in new urban districts? These are by no means all the questions that arise today. The prospect of growing old alone in one's own little house and ending up in old people's home too soon is just as unattractive as a domestically isolated "homework hell" in which parents of younger children sometimes feel trapped. In addition to the ecological component, what counts most is the social one! Here, community housing projects form relevant building blocks for the transformation of our cities into more people-friendly and sustainable places!
The "New Living" emerges, among other things, from socially networked residential clusters that combine individual, secluded living with communal activities and mutual neighbourly support. Relevant ecological aspects are included.
In addition to the individually secluded living units, there are communal areas such as an outdoor kitchen, a living room with library, a coworking space, a workshop for repairing and recycling, a laundry, a gym and yoga room, a greenhouse for urban farming and a community garden on the roof.
