Everything but the expected

In the creation of Royal Caribbean's new ship, "Icon of the Seas," 3deluxe was deeply involved in the initial ideation and conceptualization of the innovative platform for the Icon class. Furthermore, 3deluxe played a pivotal role in shaping both the exterior and interior, being the designated exterior designer of the entire ship as well as crafting distinct neighborhoods with multiple venues in between the Aqua Dome and the striking arch at the stern. The challenge was to elevate design development to new heights, creating first at sea spaces and features, establishing a visual identity for an entirely new ship class, while building a self-contained floating city for close to 10.000 people.

This groundbreaking vessel boasts 20 decks in total, with 18 dedicated to guests, showcasing an impressive blend of architecture and engineering. Icon of the Seas does not only stand out with its innovative design venues but also with a focus on environmental sustainability. The ship incorporates advanced technologies, such as fuel cells and being powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). Beyond the glitz of the cruise experience, this ship stands as a testament to cutting-edge design, architectural prowess, engineering excellence and international cooperation with the best of their field.

»Icon of the Seas is like a floating city on the ocean – with a design and planning period of about 6 years one of the most complex and fascinating projects 3deluxe has ever been involved in.«
