A playscape represents a new form of urban furniture — a fusion of playground, sports field, park, and art installation, offering a cooler, more urban alternative to the traditional playground with seesaws and swings. There are various forms of playscapes with different orientations, contents, and offerings.
The Playscape Wiesbaden has been installed as an exemplary project in the vacant space of the currently somewhat desolate Hochstättenstraße. For the teenagers visiting the library opposite, this creates a new focal point in the city center.
The street becomes more attractive and safer, serving as a link between Schwalbacher Straße and the pedestrian zone. For families, this becomes an additional reason to visit the city center and enliven it. To enhance the quality of stay and expand the target audience, a small food truck could temporarily contribute a culinary offering.
The proposed play equipment is significantly more appealing than those found in a conventional playground. They cater to different age groups depending on the selection. Through thematic staging, the Wiesbaden theme of springs and water could be interpreted in a vibrant manner, thus creating an authentic connection to the location of Wiesbaden.
