3deluxe designed the architectural concept for Adventure Mountain, an outdoor park located at Luluyah Beach near Dubai. The park offers a variety of activities, including biking, climbing, hiking, a summer toboggan run, and a zip line. A key design element is the Base Camp at the foot of the mountain, along with the translucent Mountaintop Café, notable for its striking form and large terraces that provide breathtaking views of the sea, surrounding mountains, and adventure park landscape. This landscape includes biking trails, climbing routes, and a zip line that extends from the mountain peak to a platform in the sea, among other sports highlights.
The Mountaintop Café, constructed using modern timber techniques, integrates seamlessly into the natural topography, while its geometric design offers a striking contrast. This combination makes the café both a retreat and a scenic viewpoint, inviting visitors to take extended breaks. Its asymmetrical louvered roof encourages natural ventilation while offering protection from intense sunlight. The unique, hexagonal shape of the roof ensures ample shade for the outdoor seating areas and the glass-enclosed storeys below. Inside, the café boasts a bright, open interior with panoramic views of the surrounding environment.
The café’s architecture echoes the dynamic elements of the Base Camp, also designed by 3deluxe, including its folded louvered roof and turquoise interior accents. The café’s outdoor terrace features a 360° panoramic view from a wooden platform, which resembles a giant bird’s nest, enhancing the overall natural aesthetic.
The Base Camp at Luluyah Beach serves as the central hub of the adventure park, housing changing rooms, showers, and equipment rental services. Its standout feature is the faceted, polyhedral roof with a large cantilevered sunshade. This geometric structure, composed of irregularly shaped triangles, forms a striking origami-like roof that stands out against the landscape. The turquoise-and-white color scheme of the roof contrasts with the earth-toned surroundings, making the structure visually prominent while blending harmoniously with the natural environment.
Beneath the iconic roof of the Base Camp are building cubes that house cafés, service areas, and retail spaces. These cubes sit atop a wooden platform that extends into a spacious outdoor terrace. The wooden façades of the buildings, combined with gabions filled with natural stones from the Luluyah region, create a strong connection to the surrounding landscape while offering a dynamic visual contrast to the roof’s bold colors.
