3DELUXE developed and planned one of the most innovative logistics centres in Europe - the European Distribution Centre (EDC) - for the Harting Technology Group in Espelkamp, East Westphalia, on an area of 18,000 m².
The EDC consists of an automated small parts high-bay warehouse with a high-speed shuttle, order picking with incoming and outgoing goods, a service building with workshops and the administration area with a representative reception foyer.
The administration area for approx. 60 employees is characterised by a modern concept of open-work spaces: An open landscape of different work areas on several floors offers HARTING employees a light-flooded working environment that precisely meets the requirements for contemporary, efficient work. Bright offices with large areas of glazing promote communication and provide a view of the large hall.
Attached to the administration area is a bistro with an adjoining outdoor area for lunch breaks in the open air.
The photovoltaic system on the roof supplies electricity for the logistics centre. The energy requirements for cooling and heating are covered by biomethane from the company's own production as well as a geothermal system, thus minimising CO2 emissions. State-of-the-art logistics technology and ergonomic workplaces have been optimally combined here.
The HARTING Technology Group has been awarded the German Brand Award in Gold for the innovative logistics centre.
"The EDC impresses with its hypermodern, pleasantly open and light-flooded architecture, which offers both communicative proximity and interesting lines of sight across several levels. A holistically developed architectural concept that reflects not only ecological but also social values. It thus reflects the corporate philosophy in a comprehensible way and at the same time impressively demonstrates the company's technological logistics competence," the jury said in explaining its decision. "With its innovative intralogistics solutions, the EDC is a beacon of the company's technological logistics competence. Our products are everywhere in this building, its technology, its systematics, its inner workings," said CEO Philip Harting.
