New interpretation of a vintage gym with spectacular sea view
The wide range of modern and challenging sportive activities is an essential component of the philosophy of TUI Cruises. Besides the jogging track also the ‚arena‘ designed by 3deluxe underlines this claim. The large inner court offers numerous sport activities such as climbing walls, indoor cycling and TRX full body workouts and in addition can be used as event location. The huge panoramic windows with their dynamic form are a connecting element between the interior and exterior design and open the view to both sides of the ocean.
The design of 3deluxe is inspired by American Vintage-Gyms lofts: a generous space inviting to be active or just an observer. Reminiscent to a retro gym wooden tones and the color white are dominating elements.
The construction of the hall ceiling was challenging as design, technical functionality and ball security had to be brought into balance. 3deluxe‘ approach was a timber blade ceiling with a backlit white attachment, in which ventilation system, sound system, suspension of the sports equipment, video projectors and light technology are hidden.
A further special feature and exclusive development by 3deluxe is the processing of the maritime cast floor. To achieve a natural, grained wooden optic of the hall floor, a bright and a darker brown color were mixed. White joints complete the vintage look.
The christening of the new Mein Schiff 1 took place on 11 May 2018 parallel to the 829th harbour birthday in Hamburg.
