Mobile exhibition pavilion for metropolitan Mercedes-Benz Centers with a dynamic light installation on its façade as well as two ambient all-round projections and interactively accessible film content in the interior.
Given that raw material resources are dwindling, while environmental pollution is increasing Mercedes-Benz is engaging in research into eco-friendly propulsion concepts.
The multimedia exhibition 'Future Mobility' enables customers of the automobile manufacturer to experience this highly complex topic both in technical and social terms both emotionally and intellectually. The mobile pavilion was planned for a two-year tour of the major European Mercedes-Benz centers.
Conceived as a room within a room, the exhibition pavilion's outward appearance initially allows for an intuitive, emotional lead in to the topic before extensive information is gradually introduced inside. The architecture's design and materials as well as the atmospheric effects of the media presentation highlight the exhibition content and simultaneously correspond to the Mercedes-Benz brand image. The structure's cylindrical shape translates the schematic image of environmentally neutral cycles into a three-dimensional structure. As a consequence, the visitors quite literally move round inside the pavilion - symbolizing the cyclically renewable energies of the future.
The architecture, interior, screen and print design, not to mention the animations, film and text content were all developed as a holistic design solution in interdisciplinary teamwork.
To be able to present the exhibition in German Mercedes-Benz showrooms, significant design elements and essential content of the pavilion were transposed onto a more compact version. The structure of the pavilion recurs in the three axes of the smaller exhibition architecture. Its non-directional shape makes it compatible to any spatial situation.
In 2006 'Future Mobility' received an award from Art Directors Club Germany in the category 'Communication in Space' and the silver ADAM Award in the category 'Trade fair stands up to 50 sqm'.
